No Fair Way To Vote
This film explains the first past the post system of voting with a day at the races. Franck Magennis, a student at the London School of Economics, looks at the advantages and disadvantages of this method of voting. He also explores other more representational ways of choosing our government.
Unity In The Community
Easton is an inner city area of Bristol where prostitution, drugs and signs of urban poverty can be seen on every street corner. Unity In The Community was made by a group of young people based at radio Salaam Shalom with the support of TrueVan. The film showcases the positives of the area and encourages the community to unite and make a positive change.
Trading Fair
A film exploring what “Fair Trade” really means to the producers by interviewing Greg (who runs Creed, an ethical jewellery company), Dave (from Divine, a Fairtrade chocolate company) and Melanie Cave (from Just Trade, who make jewellery, clothing & accessories). The film was made at Greenbelt festival 09, by a group of young people who wanted to know more about Fairtrade, and share their findings with their peers. Produced with the support of TrueVan.
Pressure Point
Andy Barton discusses pressures on young sports people to succeed. His commentary is highlighted by a narrative given by Jo Ankier, an athlete who narrowly missed out on the opportunity to represent Britain in Beijing. Jo explains how the pressure she put on herself affected not only her performance but her whole life.
